naoussa

Whitewashed houses with the scent of fresh basil in the air, small churches and homes, narrow stone paved roads, bougainvilleas by the windows, these are the paint strokes that compose the picture of Paros. The intense color of the Cyclades covers the entire island, which attracts tourists from every corner of the world, by the thousands every year.

At Parikia, with its characteristic Windmill at the edge of the port, the ruins of the old Castle and the Ekatontapiliani (One Hundred Pillars) overseeing the center of the city, all giving the island a cosmopolitan flavor. Near the elementary school of the area, is where one can find the home where, Manto Mavrogenous, the Mykonian heroine, died.

Naousa, with its ruins of the old castle right in the port, has recently developed into a tourist must, without having lost any of its Cycladic character. Across from Naousa east of the cape, is the location of Santa Maria's coast, where several international surfing competitions are hosted. Not too far from Naousa are the Kolimbithres, a rare sandy beach strewn with rocks, reminiscent of a Lunar landscape. A quiet and delightful fishing village Aliki with crystal clear and calm sea is perfect for an afternoon stroll, with little tavernas and snack shops. The island has many beaches, with golden sand ruling most of them.

The Gold Coast, the Kaminia, Krios, Ayios Fokas, the grand coast of Piso Livadi, are just some examples. From the quiet Punta you can cross to Antiparos, a small island that at one time was connected to Paros, it too, is surrounded by golden beaches, ideal for fishing and swimming. Antiparos is famous for its cavern, which offers historic nature lovers interest.
